Sustainability Policy

As part of GO! Organic Festival’s objective to promote organic and sustainable principles to the public, we ask everyone involved with the event to take an environmentally friendly and sustainable approach to their participation at the event and, wherever possible, to minimise waste and the use of energy and other resources during your participation.

Together with the Event Advisory Panel, we have set out the following guidelines.

  1. The organiser and exhibitors commit to using energy efficiently and to minimise consumption across the site.
  2. The organiser and exhibitors are prohibited from using plastic straws at the Festival.
  3. The organiser and exhibitors commit to minimising food, drink and packaging waste from the event. Wherever possible food not sold or consumed at the event must be taken home by the exhibitor, or given to the nominated food collection charity, which will be at the event.
  4. All waste must be segregated and must be placed in the recycling containers and other recycling facilities provided on site.
  5. The organiser and exhibitors commit to using re-usable service ware where possible / sensible (in an effort to reduce the amount of disposables onsite).
  6. The organiser and exhibitors commit to using sustainable packaging, including food and drink serving items, such as plates, cups, glasses, cutlery, etc, which must all be bio-degradable and preferable compostable.
  7. The organiser and exhibitors aim to use recycled unbleached paper and to ensure that packaging of products minimises the use of materials and that it is recyclable.
  8. We encourage the use of sustainable public transport by visitors to the event.
  9. Giveaways. The organisers encourage exhibitors only to give away products which have a minimum waste impact. Promotional plastic giveaways, plastic bags and other such items are not encouraged.
  10. The organiser and exhibitors commit to sustainable sourcing of suppliers and to make sure that products which may involve exploitative labour, child labour or dangerous working conditions cannot be exhibited or included in any way at the event.
  11. Products which may include harmful ingredients, pesticides or unsafe chemicals cannot be exhibited at the event.

The policy guidelines aim to ensure that we minimise the waste, pollution, environmental damage and energy requirement impact from the festival and seeks to ensure that the festival portrays a consistent, responsible message to visitors and the media.

Thank you for participating and supporting these guidelines.
